Take advantage of these brisk winter months and use this time to start a new home project, clean up around the house, or add some simple finishing touches to enhance your home’s look! Here are a few winter home improvement projects for you to get started on this winter season.

Painting Your Home

With a trip to the closest home improvement store and a purchase of a couple of gallons of paint, your home could be looking good as new for the spring! Painting your home and adding some different colors is always a great way to enhance the look of your home. You can never go wrong with adding a lighter color to really open up your home, or adding some color to one wall to create a beautiful accent wall. Also, painting your front door is always a fun and easy way to add a pop of color to your home!

Saving Energy!

If you have an attic, you might want to think about installing insulation. While it can be a considerably pricey project, it could help you save energy in the long run. Installing insulation in your attic can lower your energy bill tremendously from anywhere between 5% and 10%. Making sure you’re using LED light bulbs is also a great way to save energy. These lightbulbs use about 75% less energy and can last at least 20 times longer than a regular incandescent bulb.

Add a New Backsplash

Adding a new backsplash can be a really fun and exciting project to work on during these winter months. Most homeowners use backsplashes in their kitchen, but there are other areas in your home that you can utilize back splashes in such as bathrooms, behind showers and surrounding your sink and toilets. Utilizing this addition in your home is such a great way to add a pop of color or design and there are so many different types and styles of backsplashes to use. Ceramic tiles are the most durable and come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors, glass tiles are also easy to maintain and can make your room look brighter by reflecting lights, and stone (such as marble) can give a texture look adding some dimension to your room. These are just a few of some of the different backsplashes you can choose from to spruce up your home.

Minor Details and Finishing Touches

There are not a lot of blooming flowers in the winter months. Take advantage of this time to ready your yard for the spring! Pull those dead plants, rake the leaves from the yard and prepare your yard for the spring! This is also the perfect time to touch up the inside of your home. Get a head start on spring cleaning and decluttering, repaint the trim around your house to make it look clean and fresh, or even redecorate and reorganize!
