It’s PLAYOFF season!! Many of us here in the Raleigh, NC area are grinning from ear to ear as the Canes enter playoffs with an amazing season! They have earned the No. 1 seed in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 52-21-9. Their next challenge will be facing the New York Islanders in the opening round of the NHL Playoffs, with the hopes of making it to the conference finals for the first time since 2019.
Led by center Martin Necas, who recorded team highs in points and assists, the Hurricanes are looking to build on their previous playoff appearance and make a deep run. Their opponent, the Islanders, earned the first wild card spot and will be a formidable challenge in a best-of-seven series.
The series will follow a 2-2-1-1-1 format, with the better seed hosting Games 1 and 2, as well as Games 5 and 7 if necessary. The Hurricanes hosted the first game last night, and will host game two as well before heading to New York for Games 3 and 4. They’ll then have the opportunity to close out the series at home if needed.
If the Hurricanes advance, they will face either the New Jersey Devils or the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Fans in Carolina are excited for the playoffs to begin, and will be rooting for the Hurricanes to make history and bring the Stanley Cup back to Raleigh.
